The Art Of Saving Food

“If art has always told the story of food, what does it tell us today about our relationship with it?” From this simple yet urgent question came the idea for “The Art Of Saving Food”, a guide that analyzed some of the great masterpieces of the past to raise awareness about contemporary food waste.
Developed with the involvement of experts, the book combined artistic analysis, data on food waste, and practical tips to reduce it, showing how every ingredient holds cultural value even before its nutritional one.
By bringing together art, culture, and social commitment, the project supported ACLI Roma’s initiative “Il Cibo che Serve”, through which surplus food from markets, shops, fishmongers, bakeries, and supermarkets across Rome is recovered and redistributed to parishes, family homes, community canteens, and vulnerable households.
Supporting the book, a TV spot aired on Mediaset channels, encouraging people to see food differently and turning the fight against waste into a collective act of responsibility. The initiative also lived across ACLI Roma’s Meta channels and was further amplified through a dedicated podcast.
